Is it required that I have driven before?
NO. Those that have never driven are the best students/clients.
When can I take my road test?
If you are 18 years or older, when you have attained proficient skill, received an MV-278 and possess a valid learner's permit.
How do I schedule a road test?
You can schedule by visiting any Motor Vehicle Office, call their statewide Road Test number 518-486-6639, or we can schedule it for you.
How long does it take for me to find out if I passed the road test?
You are informed of the results immediately upon completion of the test.

Where can I take the 5 hour Pre-Licensing Course?
It is your 5 hour Pre-Licensing Course Completion Certificate.
It is a Certification of Supervised Driving where your parent/guardian certifies that you have completed at least 50 hours of practice driving including at least 15 hours after sunset with an appropriate supervising driver.
It is a Student Certificate Completion which is issued after you successfully pass a state approved high school or college driver education program.
Most driving schools offer the course, but Exodus Auto Institute only provides behind the wheel instruction.
Can I get a license at 16 or 17 years of age without completing a driver's education course?
Yes. However, you will only receive a junior license (Class D) which restricts where you can drive and what hours you can drive. The most notable restriction is that you CAN NOT drive within the 5 boroughs of New York City. When you turn 18 years of age, DMV will send your Class D license automatically.
How long does it take to secure a road test date?
In the 5 boroughs of New York City, it takes anywhere from 4-6 weeks.
Which road test site(s) is/are the best (easiest)?
There in no best/easiest road test site. Each site is unique and has its own distinctive features. If you are adequately prepared and able to execute the required skills, you will successfully complete the road test at any site.
